Parent training

For parents of children with ASD, regardless of the child’s age, parent training is an important and mandatory part of treatment. Parent training focuses on informing, supporting and guiding parents in understanding the role of ADHD, ASD or behavioral disorders in their child’s behavior and learning effective parenting strategies that are tailored to their child’s specific needs.

Parents are involved in the treatment process and learn techniques and skills to reduce their child’s problem behavior and promote positive behavioral change. Parent training can help parents to better cope with the challenges of raising a child with autism and can strengthen the parent-child relationship and improve the child’s functioning.

Psycho-education

Parents gain information and understanding about the specific characteristics of autism, ADHD or behavioral disorders, including their impact on their child’s behavior. They learn about the neurological, social and emotional aspects of the condition, and how this can affect their child’s daily life.

Parenting Skills

Parents learn effective and positive parenting strategies that are tailored to the needs of their child with ASD. This may include teaching structure and predictability, promoting communication and social skills, managing behavioral challenges, and encouraging self-reliance and independence.

Emotional Support

Parents are supported in managing the emotional impact of having a child with ASD. They learn to manage the stress, worries, and emotions that come with caring for a child with special needs, and are encouraged to practice self-care and emotional well-being.

Collaboration & Communication

Parents learn effective communication and collaboration skills to work collaboratively with professionals, such as clinicians, teachers, and others involved in the care of their child with autism. This may include negotiating services, understanding treatment plans, and coordinating care between different stakeholders.
